Our Programs

New Hope Family Housing

We are thrilled to be partnering with the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) and New Hope Missionary Baptist Church to develop two properties on 21st Ave and Fir Street in Seattle, right in the heart of the historic Central District. Our New Hope Family Housing will include 92 units of affordable housing on two sites for families and individuals. We will have studios, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments for community members, as well as a community hub space for activities. In addition, this will include a green space thanks to our partnership with Clean Greens, to offer employment and fresh, healthy food choices to our community.

Check back for updates, as we look to start construction in 2024.

Squire Park Plaza

We partnered with the Low Income Housing Institute to acquire Squire Park Plaza in 2022.  This property currently offers 60 apartments for long term affordability to help counter displacement.

Our Strategies

2023-2025 Strategic Goals

We seek to revitalize the Central District by focusing on housing, Black-owned business development, and education/training opportunities that support the vibrancy of the neighborhood and surrounding community. Our impact will -

  1. Retain and expand affordable housing opportunities for Black residents and former residents of the Central District, beginning with ensuring the success of the New Hope Family Housing Development and Squire Park Plaza Development

  2. Create pathways to home ownership for residents of Squire Park Plaza and the larger community of the Central District

  3. Offer training and services to tenants and community members that support Black owned business development

Our Board

Our Board is committed to our community and is essential to our success. To support their work, we will -

  • Expand our board to best help us achieve our strategic impact, deepen community partners, and increase our influence with policy makers, funders and others

  • Create and support clear pathways to leverage each Board member’s unique gifts, relationships, and skills maximize their contribution to our mission

Financial Support

Financial support from our community of stakeholders is key to achieving our vision. We will -

  • Secure the financial support from public and private partners and other donors needed to hire a founding director and launch new home ownership and business development strategies

As we grow in impact, we will build our infrastructure to meet our organizational and community needs. We will -

  1. Fully assess the opportunities, risks, and capacities needed to build out a property management function in our properties as a core service at NHCDI

  2. Hire and support strong staff who can be connectors and leaders in the community and take our vision to a new level

  3. Ensure strong stewardship of resources and community trust by building out our fiscal accountability structure

  4. Build the infrastructure and actions to expand our community of supporters and allies in service of our mission
